Large red wool textile densely worked in polychrome silk chain-stitch embroidery, centered by an elaborate eight-pointed star medallion surrounded by stylized flowering vines, boteh and palmette motifs within multiple decorative borders. Rasht, Northern Persia, Qajar period, circa 1875–1900. Rasht work is particularly associated with fine silk chain-stitch embroidery on wool grounds during the Qajar period.
